Hand Tendon Transfer Surgery With A Tendon Graft

Vermont rates for HCPCS 26489

This surgery restores hand function by rerouting a working tendon to take over the job of one that no longer works, and adds a piece of donor tendon to bridge the distance needed. It is used when nerve or tendon injury has left part of the hand unable to move normally on its own. The added graft tissue allows the transfer to reach and connect properly even when the original tendon path is too short.
