Boutonniere Tendon Repair With Tendon Graft

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 26428

A surgery to repair the central part of the tendon on top of a finger that straightens the middle knuckle, a structure that when damaged causes the finger to curl into a specific bent posture known as a boutonniere deformity. This version uses a tendon graft, taken from elsewhere in the body, to reconstruct the damaged tendon rather than reconnecting the original tendon ends directly. It is performed as a delayed, secondary repair of the injury rather than as the initial treatment.
