Opening a Finger Joint to Drain or Clear It

One of the joints within a finger or thumb is opened through a small incision so it can be examined, drained of infected fluid, or cleared of a loose fragment or foreign object. It is used for a joint infection, for material driven in by an injury, or for debris that is blocking movement. Each joint treated is billed separately.
