Draining an Infected Finger Tendon Sheath

Vermont rates for HCPCS 26020

Opens and washes out the sheath that a finger tendon runs through when infection has filled it with pus. The finger is swollen, held bent, and intensely painful to straighten, and the pressure inside can destroy the tendon if it is not released quickly. The surgeon makes small incisions, flushes the sheath through, and leaves it to drain.
