Drainage of a Deep Forearm Abscess

Vermont rates for HCPCS 25028

An incision is made in the forearm or wrist to open and drain a deep pocket of pus or a collection of clotted blood lying beneath the skin and fascia. The cavity is washed out, samples are usually sent to the laboratory, and a drain may be left or the wound left partly open. It treats collections deep in the tissues rather than a simple boil at the surface.
