Emergency Forearm Release With Debridement

Vermont rates for HCPCS 25023

Emergency surgery that opens the tough fibrous sheath around the muscles of the forearm and wrist to relieve dangerous pressure inside it, and cuts away muscle or nerve tissue that has already died. One muscle group is released — either the flexor group on the palm side or the extensor group on the back of the forearm. The wound is generally left open at first and closed at a later operation.
