Removes the small fluid-filled cushion sitting over the bony tip of the elbow when it has become chronically swollen, thickened or repeatedly infected. Through an incision over the point of the elbow the surgeon takes the sac out and closes the skin over the bone. It is done when the swelling keeps returning despite drainage, padding and treatment of infection.
