Open Repair of a Broken Collarbone

Vermont rates for HCPCS 23515

Repairs a broken collarbone through an incision over the bone, lining the fragments up directly under the surgeon's eye and holding them there, commonly with a plate and screws or a pin. It is chosen when the bone ends are badly out of position, shortened, or pressing on the skin, rather than when a sling alone would be enough. Any hardware used is normally left in place.
