Repair of a Long-Standing Rotator Cuff Tear

Colorado rates for HCPCS 23420

Rebuilds a rotator cuff that has torn completely away from the top of the arm bone and has been that way long enough for the tendon to pull back and stiffen. Through an open incision the surgeon frees the retracted tendon, brings it back down to bone, and anchors it there, usually trimming the bony ridge above so the repair is not pinched. It is a bigger reconstruction than repairing a fresh, simple tear.
