Muscle Transfer in the Shoulder or Upper Arm

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 23395

Moves a working muscle, together with its tendon, to a new attachment in the shoulder or upper arm so that it takes over the job of a muscle that no longer works. It is used after nerve injury, paralysis, or a tear that cannot be repaired, when a lost movement has to be restored another way. Retraining the transferred muscle is a large part of the recovery.
