Complete Removal of the Collarbone

Connecticut rates for HCPCS 23125

Surgical removal of the entire collarbone (clavicle), typically performed for an extensive tumor, severe infection, or a bone destroyed beyond repair. Removing the whole bone changes the shape of the shoulder area and affects how the arm attaches to the trunk, so reconstruction or additional stabilization procedures are sometimes done at the same time or afterward. This is a more extensive operation than removing just part of the bone.
