Artificial Disc Replacement in the Neck

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 22856

Replaces a worn or damaged disc in the neck with an artificial one, reached through a small incision at the front of the neck. The damaged disc is removed to take pressure off the spinal cord or nerve roots, and the implant is set between the vertebrae so that the level continues to move rather than being locked solid. It treats neck and arm pain, numbness or weakness caused by a disc pressing on a nerve.
