Removal Of A Spinal Rod Anchored At Its Ends

Vermont rates for HCPCS 22850

Removes spinal hardware placed at an earlier operation along the back of the spine — a rod attached to the bone only at the top and bottom of the stretch it spans. The old incision is reopened, the hardware is unhooked from the bone and lifted out. It is done when the hardware is loose, prominent, painful or infected, or is simply no longer needed.
