Straightens and permanently fuses a long run of the spine, thirteen or more vertebrae, through an incision down the back, to correct a curve or other deformity. Bone graft is laid along the spine and rods with screws or hooks hold the correction while the bones knit into one solid column. This is the most extensive version, used for curves that span most of the back.
