Permanently joins a run of spinal bones together through an incision in the back to correct a sideways curve or other deformity of the spine. Rods, screws or hooks hold the spine in the corrected position while packed bone graft causes the treated bones to grow into one solid piece. This version covers a moderate stretch of the spine, about seven to twelve bones.
