Lower Back Fusion From Behind and Through the Disc

Vermont rates for HCPCS 22633

Joins two vertebrae in the lower back permanently, working through an incision in the back. The worn disc between them is cleared out and a spacer packed with bone graft is set into the space, while further graft is laid alongside the back of the spine, so bone grows across and the two vertebrae become a single solid unit. It is used for a slipped or unstable segment, or where a collapsed disc is pinching nerves and other treatment has not helped.
