Reshaping Overgrown Skull Bone

New Mexico rates for HCPCS 21181

Reshapes an area of skull bone that has become enlarged or distorted by a noncancerous bone condition, shaving and contouring it back toward a normal outline. The work stays on the outer surface of the skull rather than opening it, and the aim is a smooth, balanced head or brow shape. It is used for conditions in which healthy bone is gradually replaced by softer, overgrown bone.
