Placing Medicated Material Inside a Bone

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 20702

The surgeon hand-mixes medicine, usually an antibiotic, into a carrier such as bone cement, shapes it, and places it inside the hollow marrow canal of a bone. This delivers a very high dose of the drug straight to an infected bone while sparing the rest of the body. It is done during another operation and is billed in addition to it.
