Halo Brace Application, Fragile Skull

Maine rates for HCPCS 20664

This service applies a halo brace - a rigid ring attached to the skull with pins and connected to a supportive vest - to immobilize the head and neck. It uses a technique adapted for patients whose skull bone is unusually thin or fragile, such as young children or people with certain bone conditions, and includes removal of the device when treatment is complete. This kind of immobilization is used to stabilize the neck after an injury or before or after certain spine surgery.
