Removal of the Whole Breast

Vermont rates for HCPCS 19303

Removes all of the breast tissue on one side, including the nipple and the areola, through an incision across the chest. The muscles of the chest wall are left in place and no formal clearance of the armpit lymph nodes is included, though a limited node sampling may be done as a separate service. It is used to treat breast cancer, and sometimes to reduce risk in a person at high risk of developing it.
