Placing A Radiation Catheter In The Breast

A catheter is positioned in the cavity left in the breast after a lump has been removed, so that radiation can later be delivered from inside the breast to the tissue immediately around where the lump was. Imaging is used to place it, and it stays in until the course of radiation is finished. It is placed at a separate visit rather than during the lump removal itself.
