This continues a precision skin cancer removal technique in which thin layers of tissue are removed and examined under a microscope one at a time, until no cancer cells remain at the edges. This represents an additional layer taken from the same treatment area after the first layer didn't fully clear the cancer. The goal is to remove as little healthy tissue as possible while still eliminating the cancer completely.
