Cuts out a deep pressure sore along with the dead and scarred tissue around it, and shaves down the bony prominence underneath that has been pressing the skin from within. The wound is then shaped and prepared so it can be closed with a flap of nearby muscle and skin or with a graft. It is done for a long-standing sore that will not heal with dressings alone.
