Excision Of A Pressure Sore Over The Tailbone Area

Vermont rates for HCPCS 15936

A pressure sore over the sacrum — the flat bone at the base of the spine, just above the buttock crease — is cut out along with the dead and infected tissue around and beneath it, back to healthy bleeding tissue. Clearing the wound this way controls infection and gives a clean base that can heal or be closed. It is done for deep sores that will not heal with dressings alone.
