Dye Injection to Check Blood Flow in a Flap

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 15860

A dye is injected into a vein during surgery so the surgeon can see whether blood is actually reaching a flap or graft of tissue that has just been moved into a new position. Under a special light the dye glows where blood is flowing and stays dark where it is not. It is a survival check on the reconstruction, made while the operation is still under way and the problem can still be fixed.
