Surgical removal of loose, overhanging skin and the fat beneath it from the leg below the knee, with the remaining skin trimmed and closed so that it lies flat. It is done when the excess skin causes rashes, repeated skin infections, or gets in the way of movement, washing and clothing, most often after major weight loss. It is not the same as liposuction, which removes fat but leaves the skin behind.
