Full-Thickness Skin Graft, Additional Area

Washington rates for HCPCS 15221

This covers extra surface area covered when a full-thickness skin graft, a patch of skin including its deeper layer, taken from the patient's own body and stitched into place, is used to close a wound on the scalp, an arm, or a leg. It applies in addition to the main graft, for each additional area of coverage needed beyond the first section. Full-thickness grafts include the full depth of the skin, which typically gives a more durable and natural-looking repair than a thinner graft.
