Needle Sampling Of A Lump Using CT Guidance

Montana rates for HCPCS 10009

A very thin needle is passed into a lump or abnormal area to draw out cells for examination under a microscope, with a CT scanner used to see the target and steer the needle to it. CT guidance is chosen for areas deep inside the body that other imaging cannot show clearly. This covers sampling of the first area, and each further area sampled at the same visit is billed separately.
