Keyhole Placement Of A Diaphragm Stimulation System

Alaska rates for HCPCS 0674T

Placement of a complete diaphragm stimulation system through small cuts in the abdomen, using a camera and slim instruments. One or more leads are attached to the diaphragm and connected to a battery-and-electronics unit set in a pocket under the skin, which sends timed electrical pulses that make the muscle contract — a treatment used in heart failure to improve how well the heart pumps, not to assist breathing. The same service covers replacing a whole system that is already in place.
