Catheter Treatment Of Kidney Artery Nerves

Wyoming rates for HCPCS 0338T

A catheter is passed through a puncture in an artery, usually at the groin, and guided with X-ray imaging into the artery supplying a kidney. Energy delivered from the catheter tip interrupts overactive nerves running in the artery wall, with the aim of lowering blood pressure that has not responded well to medication. Contrast dye and X-ray pictures of the artery are taken as part of the procedure.
