Paired Tumor Optical Genome Mapping

Vermont rates for HCPCS 0299U

Looks for large structural rearrangements in a cancer's chromosomes, in any type of tumor. Fresh tissue, blood or a bone-marrow sample is examined by optical genome mapping — imaging very long DNA molecules to reveal breaks, fusions, deletions and duplications — and the result is compared against the patient's own normal tissue so that only cancer-specific changes are reported. This comparison relies on optical mapping alone, without DNA sequencing.
