Bone marrow is drawn from the person's own hip bone and prepared, and the concentrated cells are injected at many points into the muscles of one leg. The aim is to encourage new small blood vessels to form in a leg with poor circulation. Ultrasound may be used to guide the injections, and the marrow harvest is part of this service.
