JAK2 Mutation Analysis For Blood Cancers

Kentucky rates for HCPCS 0017U

Helps diagnose bone marrow cancers that cause too many blood cells to be produced, by looking for mutations in the JAK2 gene. Exons 12 through 14 of the gene are copied and read from the DNA, and the result is reported simply as mutation found or not found. Either a blood or a bone-marrow sample can be used.
