Anesthesia With Deliberately Lowered Blood Pressure

Delaware rates for HCPCS 99135

An addition to the anesthesia service, used when the anesthesia clinician intentionally lowers the patient's blood pressure and holds it down for part of the operation. Reducing pressure reduces bleeding into the surgical field, giving the surgeon a clear view for fine work, but it demands very close monitoring to keep enough blood reaching the brain, heart and kidneys. It is billed in addition to the main anesthesia service, never on its own.
