Adjustment of a Deep Brain Stimulator, Additional Time
Alaska rates for HCPCS 95979
This covers additional time spent by a doctor checking and adjusting the settings of an implanted deep brain stimulation device beyond the initial portion of the visit. Fine-tuning these settings, such as the strength and pattern of the electrical signals, can take considerable time and testing to find the best balance of symptom control and side effects. This is used when a programming session for the device runs longer than the initial covered time.
