Embryo Biopsy for Genetic Testing

Vermont rates for HCPCS 89290

A laboratory step in fertility treatment in which an embryologist, working under a microscope with fine instruments, removes a small sample from a developing embryo or the tiny polar body cast off by an egg. The sample is sent for genetic testing so that the embryos most likely to lead to a healthy pregnancy can be identified. The embryos themselves continue to be cultured while the results come back.
