Migration Inhibitory Factor Test

Kansas rates for HCPCS 86378

Tests for migration inhibitory factor, a signal that immune cells release when they meet a substance the body has already been sensitised to. In the laboratory, immune cells from a blood sample are watched to see whether that signal holds them back from spreading out the way they normally would. The result reflects the cell-driven side of the immune system rather than antibodies circulating in the blood.
