Alcohol Biomarker Test

West Virginia rates for HCPCS 80321

A laboratory test on a sample such as blood or urine that looks for substances the body produces after alcohol is drunk. These markers linger far longer than alcohol itself, so the test can show recent drinking even when alcohol is no longer present. It is used in treatment programs, transplant assessment and monitoring rather than to measure someone's level at a moment in time.
