This covers a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of both breasts, using a strong magnet and radio waves to create detailed images without X-rays. Contrast dye may be given through an IV to help highlight areas of concern. It is often used for high-risk cancer screening, to further evaluate an abnormal finding, or to check the extent of a known breast condition on both sides.
