A magnetic resonance scan of one breast, using a strong magnetic field and radio waves rather than X-rays. You lie face down with the breast resting in a dedicated coil while several sets of images are collected, often before and after a contrast injection. It is used to judge the extent of a known problem, to check an implant, or to follow up something seen on other imaging.
