Removes a wedge-shaped section of the iris, the colored part of the eye, running from its outer edge in toward the pupil, so fluid inside the eye can move freely and pressure comes down. It is done through an incision at the edge of the cornea. Unlike taking a tiny piece at the outer rim, this removes a full segment, which leaves a keyhole shape in the iris.
