Eye Surface Reconstruction Using Donor Stem Cells

Delaware rates for HCPCS 65781

This surgery reconstructs the surface of the eye using stem cells taken from a donor rather than from the patient's own eye. It is used to treat severe damage to the cells that normally keep the clear front surface of the eye healthy and clear, a condition that can follow chemical burns, severe infections, or other significant eye injuries. Using donor tissue allows this repair even when the patient's own eye does not have enough healthy stem cells left to use.
