Neck Cordotomy, Both Sides, Two Operations

Vermont rates for HCPCS 63198

Surgery for severe pain affecting both sides of the body that has not responded to other treatment. Part of the bony arch of a neck vertebra is removed to reach the spinal cord, and the pain-carrying pathway is cut on one side first and on the other side at a second operation soon afterwards. Splitting the work into two sittings lowers the risk that comes with cutting both sides at once.
