Surgical Opening of the Eye Socket for Biopsy

New Hampshire rates for HCPCS 61332

This covers a surgery in which the eye socket (orbit) is surgically opened, often through an approach involving the skull, to take a tissue sample from a growth or abnormal area within the socket. A neurosurgeon or specialized surgeon performs this to obtain tissue for diagnosis without necessarily removing the entire growth. This is a more involved procedure than a simple biopsy taken through the eyelid or a small external incision.
