Draining Excess Fluid From Around the Baby

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 59001

Removes a large amount of amniotic fluid from the womb through a thin needle guided by ultrasound through the mother's abdomen. It is done when too much fluid has built up, stretching the womb and causing discomfort, breathlessness, or a risk of early labor. Unlike a sample taken for testing, the point here is to relieve the pressure.
