Bladder Opened To Treat Inner Lining

Surgery in which the bladder is opened through an incision in the lower abdomen so an abnormal area on its inner lining can be treated directly. The surgeon destroys the area with an electric current or places radioactive material against it, then closes the bladder. It is used when treatment through a scope passed up the urinary tube is not sufficient.
