Releasing A Tied-Off Ureter

New Jersey rates for HCPCS 50940

Surgery that removes a tie or stitch that has been placed around the ureter, the tube carrying urine from the kidney to the bladder, freeing the tube so urine flows again. The surgeon exposes the tube, releases it, and checks that urine passes through. It is done when the tube has been closed off, usually during earlier surgery in the area.
