Stone Removal, Upper Ureter

North Dakota rates for HCPCS 50610

Open surgery to take out a stone lodged in the upper section of the ureter, the tube carrying urine from the kidney down to the bladder, nearest the kidney. Through an incision the surgeon opens the tube directly over the stone, lifts it out, and closes the tube so urine drains normally again. It is used when a stone cannot be passed or cleared by less invasive means.
