Removes an entire kidney through several small incisions using a camera and long instruments, taking with it the fatty envelope around the kidney and nearby lymph nodes. It is the wide-margin removal used for kidney cancer, aiming to take the tumor out with a clear border of surrounding tissue. Most people can live normally with the one remaining kidney.
