Kidney Transplant With Removal Of Own Kidney

Transplant of a donor kidney into a recipient, carried out in the same operation as removal of one of the recipient's own kidneys. The donor kidney is placed low in the abdomen and connected to blood vessels there and to the bladder, so it begins producing urine. Removing the native kidney is done when it is infected, obstructed, very enlarged, or dangerously raising blood pressure.
